A hysterectomy performed with the vNOTES method

What is vNOTES?

v:vaginal

N: natural

O:orifice

T: transluminal

E: endoscopic

Q: surgery

It is defined as surgeries performed through the vaginal route, which is a natural opening, without making any incisions on the abdominal wall, using laparoscopic instruments.

In which diseases can it be applied?

It can be especially applied to patients who require hysterectomy due to large myomas who do not want children, irregular menstrual bleeding, frequent urination, constipation, pain during intercourse and constant groin pain. Apart from this, it can be easily applied in patients who want to preserve the uterus, especially in myomas located close to the outer part of the uterus.

Except this ;

Removing cysts while preserving the ovary,

Removing the ovaries as a whole,

In case of blockage in the tubes, in case the tubes are removed

in ectopic pregnancies

In patients with uterine prolapse, vNOTES can be applied if the uterus is kept in place without using a patch.

How to implement vNOTES?

In cases where the uterus is completely removed or the uterus is preserved, the abdominal cavity is reached through 2-3 cm incisions made at the deepest point of the vaginal area. The organs in the abdomen are made visible with the help of vaginal protective platforms specially developed for this surgery. With the help of camera and laparoscopic instruments, the uterus is properly separated from its supporting ligaments and vessels and taken out of the abdomen. The operation is completed by repairing the vaginal tissue.

How long does vNOTES surgery take?

Reproductive organs are organs adjacent to the vaginal area and are easy to reach. Both removing the uterus vaginally and removing cysts, tubes or ovaries while preserving the uterus takes an average of 15-45 minutes. takes. Since the surgery time is short and there is no incision in the abdominal area,

less pain

Less need for painkillers

Less blood loss

Less hospital stay (6-24 hours)

Earlier discharge

It is possible to return to daily work in a shorter time.

The average post-operative discharge is 6-18 hours later.

vNOTES ovarian removal operation was performed by me for the first time in our country in 2016 and took its place in the scientific literature. I have contributed to more than 15 international articles and many national/international meetings on the subject.

In our country; In Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Kütahya and Ordu

I have given training to approximately 500 physicians abroad in Lebanon, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to learn this technique.
