What is neuropelviology?

Mass compression, endometriosis, problems in walking, sitting and standing up due to damage to the nerves in the lower abdominal cavity (pelvic region) as a result of previous surgeries and traumas, constant pain in the waist area, loss of sensation, inability to urinate/incontinence, constipation and painful sexual intercourse. It is a branch of science that seeks solutions to problems. Doctors who are trained and interested in this subject are called neuropelviologists.

Nerves in the pelvic region and their related diseases are among the areas of interest of neuropelviology.

What are the symptoms of nerve compression-loss of function?

persistent pelvic pain

urinary incontinence

Constipation

painful sexual intercourse

frequent urination

Pain during defecation

Gait disorders

Rear leg-heel pain

Backache

leg pain

Osteoporosis in the legs

Loss of sensation in the legs

inability to sit

Loss of feeling in one leg compared to the other

Hip drop to one side while walking

Non-healing bed sores on the legs

Leg and groin pain may occur shortly after waking up.

How can it be understood in men or women?

The cause of your persistent waist and leg pain may not be a herniated disc.

Dragging your feet while walking and weaker hip-leg muscles on one side may be signs of nerve compression.

Leg pain that is relieved by lying down or resting may be a sign of nerve-vessel compression.

Feeling pain in your hip area while sitting may be a sign of nerve compression.

Unbearable pain during sexual intercourse may be due to nerve compression.

How is the diagnosis made?

A detailed history and neuropelviological nerve examination are required for the diagnosis and treatment of all these undesirable conditions.

Sometimes MRI may be requested for differential diagnosis.

Is there any treatment?

After the nerve with loss of function is found, painkillers, local anesthesia treatments, botox applications, physical therapy exercises, or laparoscopic surgery options can be applied to this area.
